Tree care is primarily necessary because of the interaction between humans and nature. In the forest, nature organizes itself. The forest is a very large ecosystem that consists of many smaller ecosystems where each organism is connected to other organisms. An ecosystem survives through symbiosis. Through human intervention, the ecosystems in the city have been disturbed. Our (urban) infrastructure such as buildings, roads, traffic etc. have a big influence on the habitat of trees. From changes in the soil (excavation, soil replacement, changes in groundwater levels, etc.), to sudden changes in light and weather exposure conditions, restrictions on crown space and so on, trees have a tough life in the city. Our job as an arborist is to understand the needs of the tree's ecosystem as best as possible, to notice deviations and to make improvements to stimulate the coexistence between humans and trees.
